Butcher’s Mince Beef Cobbler Recipe From The Butchers Block

Recipe Ingredients

1 Ib butchers block beef mince
1 finely diced onion
2 medium carrots peeled & chopped into small chunks
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 beef stock cube - good quality made to 3/4 pint stock
1.5 Ib white potatoes peeled & sliced onto discs
Freshly milled black pepper
1 tablespoon cornflour
1/2 Ib strong cheddar cheese grated


In large pan boil potatoes in water. Brown mince in large non stick saucepan or wok Once brown add onion and carrot and thyme Fry lightly till onion softens Good pinch black pepper Little pinch salt Add stock Simmer for 3 minutes, Meanwhile then drain potatoes In cup mix cornflour with a little tap water to make paste Mix cornflour slowly into beef mince pan and stir- all should thicken. Place beef mince into casserole dish and layer top with potatoes and top with grated cheese Place in hot oven 190- 200c fan for 1 hour Check piping hot and serve with green veg
